Grantee Impact: Project Citizenship

Citizenship Day 2019 in Boston attracted 440 immigrants from 63 different countries, all in search of citizenship. A total of 390 law students, attorneys, and community volunteers helped so many to apply for citizenship. One of the biggest barriers to citizenship is the cost. Their efforts helped 230 applicants complete fee waivers to avoid the $725 cost, making citizenship accessible. Clients saved a total of $166,257 in the filing fees alone!

T-Shirts:
Citizenship Day commemorates the signing of the US Constitution. The framers signed the Constitution 232 years ago with a commitment to self-government as well as freedom and diversity. This year Project Citizenship wanted to remember the seven immigrants that signed the US Constitution on their “We are all immigrants” t-shirts.

They are very proud of their Citizenship Day “We Are All Immigrants” t-shirts, and they are offering them in recognition of a $25 donation to support citizenship services. Adult’s sizes are available, in small, medium, large, and x-large. To order a t-shirt, fill out the donation form on their website: In answer to the question, “How did you hear about Project Citizenship?” please answer “t-shirt” and the size, and be sure to include your mailing address on the donation page. Thank you for joining Project Citizenship in highlighting the important message that we are all immigrants!

Stay Involved:
Citizenship Day in Boston is the organization’s biggest event of the year, but Project Citizenship runs many smaller workshops throughout the year. You can always check out their website for upcoming volunteer opportunities. They are currently recruiting volunteers for these community workshops:

  • Saturday 11/02 Brockton 9:45 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Tuesday 11/19 Quincy 1:45 PM – 4:00 PM

As you know, citizenship guarantees many important rights and is the only protection against deportation. Project Citizenship is fortunate to have your support as they work to enable the 300,000 permanent residents in Massachusetts to achieve citizenship. On September 28, you brought so many so much closer to their dream.

Thank you.
