Help Wanted!

The Grant Awards and All Member Meeting on May 31. Let us count the ways you can lend a hand! We need volunteers to check in and greet guests, renew and sign up members, and help with making this special event run smoothly. Interested? Contact Judy Ferretti (Jaferretti@aol.com). And don’t forget to register with the option of bringing a friend.

Join Team TPC for the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute’s 22nd Mother’s Day Walk for Peace on May 13. We are hoping for an impressive TPC member turnout for this current grantee, which provides trauma support and services to families of those who have experienced violence and to families whose members have been perpetrators. Join or support The Philanthropy Connection Team today!

Participate in a Young Philanthropist Volunteer Day. Our Young Philanthropist Initiative has upcoming opportunities to support two of our alumni grantees. On May 5, support Mill City Grows by “working the land,” helping them in their efforts to improve the health of local residents by providing access to fresh produce through the creation and maintenance of urban gardens. On June 16, join the YPs as they work in the distribution center for Catie’s Closet, sorting donated clothing and toiletries for low resource school students. The win-win? You’ll get to know some of the most philanthropic young leaders in Boston and provide much-needed help to two exceptional non-profit organizations.

Participate in a Young-at-Heart Philanthropist Volunteer Day. Grantee BEST Hospitality Training conducts mock interviews for graduates of its Introduction to Hospitality/Housekeeping Pre-Apprenticeship class. Because these students will be applying for hotel housekeeping positions after graduation, the interviews are meant to simulate a “real” employment interview. Your help is needed on May 9 and/or June 6 from either 10:00 to 11:30 or 11:00 to 12:30. RSVP to Volunteer Coordinator Ruth Isaacs (ruth@firstjobhelp.com), or sign up for these events via our website.

Join the Grants Committee. This important committee will begin to look for members during the summer. Whether you have grants experience or want to gain some, the Grants Committee orchestrates the entire grant process, from soliciting Letter of Intent applications to final financial review of the ballot finalists. Think about whether you’d like to join or learn more and stay tuned for the announcement this summer.

The Philanthropy Connection’s mission is to inspire and enable a community of women to learn, grow, and engage in collective giving to support nonprofit organizations that address systemic inequities impacting individuals and families within the greater Boston area.
