Philanthropy Dialogue with Communities for Restorative Justice (C4RJ)

Wednesday, March 26 | 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM | Via Zoom

Explore a transformative approach to justice with TPC and our grantee, Communities for Restorative Justice (C4RJ). C4RJ offers an impactful alternative to the justice system that supports individuals, communities, and law enforcement.

Restorative justice seeks to bring together those affected by an offense to collectively address harms, needs, and responsibilities—promoting healing and resolution. As Howard Zehr, PhD, explains:
“Restorative justice is a process to involve, to the extent possible, those who have a stake in an offense and to collectively identify and address harms, needs and obligations, in order to heal and put things right as possible.”
— The Little Book of Restorative Justice, 2002

Join us to learn more about restorative justice and the C4RJ Circle approach, rooted in Indigenous traditions of addressing wrongdoing.

When: Wednesday, March 26, 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Where: On Zoom (link to be provided closer to the date)

Support Young Adults in Foster Care: Donate or Host a Supply Drive!

Now through March 25, Rise Above is collecting snacks, hygiene items, study supplies, and gift cards to create 300-400 care packages for young adults in foster care who are continuing their education.  They need your help to make this possible!

How You Can Help:

  • Host a Donation Drive: Rally your workplace, community or faith group, or family to collect essential supplies. Every contribution makes a difference!
  • Donate Supplies Directly: Check out their Amazon Wish List—items will ship straight to them.
  • Send a Note of Encouragement: They’re also looking for handwritten notes and cards to include in the packages—small gestures that have a big impact.
  • Help Assemble the Care Packages: Volunteer at Rise Above’s Auburn location on Sat. April 5, 10am to 12pm to sort donations, assemble, and pack up the care packages.

Visit Rise Above’s Care Package Page or contact Sarah Baldiga sarah@weriseabove.org for more details and the full list of needed items. Thank you for supporting the work of our grantees and inspiring young adults in foster care!

Networking Night with Young Man with a Plan

We had an incredible time at our Networking Night with Young Man with a Plan (YMWAP)!

TPC members, YMWAP mentors, and young men from the program came together for an evening full of great conversations and new connections. Hearing firsthand about YMWAP’s excellent work empowering young men of color through mentorship and leadership development was inspiring.

A massive shoutout to the young men for sharing their stories and everyone who joined us for an evening of connection and community. We left feeling energized and inspired by the impact YMWAP is making!

Galentine’s Day with Dignity Matters

Our Galentine’s Day gathering was one to remember! TPC members came together at Dignity Matters to sort and package underwear and sanitary products for 100 women in need. It was a morning filled with purpose and connection as we supported Dignity Matters’ mission to eliminate period poverty. Providing menstrual care products and underwear to women and girls experiencing homelessness or financial hardship, they help ensure dignity and confidence for those they serve.

A huge thank you to the incredible team at Dignity Matters for hosting us and to all the volunteers who showed up with open hearts and helping hands. It was inspiring to see the power of community in action!

TPC Social at Bartaco
