Woman listening
TPC Update: We hear you!

Last June, after we awarded grants to 10 fabulous organizations, we surveyed the 140+ TPC members who helped evaluate grant proposals and asked about their experience. They told us many things, chief among them: It was fabulous! I loved working with my Grant Review Team! I want to do it again!

Yet, we’re not a group of women happy to rest upon our laurels. So, we spent an evening talking with the Captains who led our Teams, seeking their counsel on how we could make joining a TPC Grant Review Team even more fun, rewarding, and easier for our members to fit into their busy lives. Thank you, ’o wise Captains!

The bottom line: We’re shortening our grant review process. This year, Grant Review Teams will start their work in January, not the fall. We’ll now spend the back-to-school months getting to know one another, in small gatherings throughout the greater Boston area. Stay tuned …

Important Dates

TPC Members: News You Can Use

On November 7, all TPC members will receive an email invitation to sign up to join a Grant Review Team. No experience necessary — we promise to teach you everything you need to know. We’ll assign you to a Grant Review Team of 5-6 members (based on your preferred meeting location and time of day), headed by a Team Captain and Deputy, and a Financial Lead who will provide a financial assessment of each grant application. These three will guide you through the evaluation process.

Non-profits: News You Can Use

Invitations to submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) will be sent via email to local non-profits on November 14. Don’t worry if you don’t receive a personal invitation — LOI applications will also be available on TPC’s website (www.thephilanthropyconnection.org). Any organization meeting our eligibility criteria (annual revenue between $200,000 and $2 million; additional criteria announced in November) may apply; ours is not an invitation-only application process. Building an Intergenerational Community of Philanthropists

YP BBQ

On July 24, 24 young TPC members gathered at President Susan Benford’s home to spend a beautiful summer afternoon catching up with old friends and meeting new ones. The backyard barbecue brought together a large contingent of past and current young members to kick off a new year of Giving, Receiving, and Learning together. With delicious food and drinks, perfect summer weather, and a chance to learn more about the talented and impressive young women of TPC, the barbeque was a smashing success. We look forward to working with and learning from these high-energy women this coming year.
