Project Kompass First Annual Back-to-School Event
Saturday, August 22 | 12:00–3:00 PM ET
Project Kompass Community Center – 192 Appleton Street, Lowell
At this inaugural event, students can get ready for the new school year by choosing a new outfit, shoes or sneakers, and a backpack filled with school supplies, based on availability.
Project Kompass is seeking local barbers and hairstylists to donate their time and talents by providing haircuts and styling services for students. It’s a meaningful way to give back and help kids head into the school year feeling confident and ready.
You can also support the event by helping fill the racks, stock the shelves, and pack backpacks so every child who walks through the doors can leave with something they’re excited to bring to school.

RIA, Inc. Presents a One-Day Core Training for Professionals Supporting Adults with Lived Experience in the Sex Trade.

This all day live, interactive training provides behavioral health professionals with a comprehensive introduction to trauma-informed, survivor-centered services for adults impacted by the sex trade. The training integrates clinical frameworks with lived experience and is co-facilitated by a licensed therapist, Rachel Ewing, and a survivor mentor, Kat Sanitago

From Insight to Impact: Rethinking Expertise and Impact

A short time ago, TPC leadership was interviewed by the Boston Women’s Fund as part of their important research titled Carrying the Weight/Leading the Change: How Women of Color Grassroots Leaders Navigate Inequities While Driving Solutions. TPC was chosen as a funder for “working most directly with the report’s target populations — women, girls, and gender-expansive people of color, and the organizations that serve them”
And on September 25th, you can learn more about The Boston Fund’s research and how charitable giving shapes equity in Greater Boston by joining their free webinar exploring how philanthropy’s definitions of impact influence which organizations, leaders, and approaches receive investment.
Traditional measures often privilege scale, rapid growth, and easily quantified outcomes. But what happens when those measures overlook the relationship-building, advocacy, healing, and long-term community work that create lasting change?
This 60-minute session will pair practical insights from Boston Women’s Fund’s latest research with the firsthand perspective of a local grassroots leader. Together, we will examine who gets to define impact, whose work may be excluded by conventional measures, and how supporters can make more intentional choices that better align their resources with their values.
The conversation is the fourth installment of From Insight to Impact, a five-part community learning and action series from Boston Women’s Fund.
Social Innovation Forum – Social Innovator Accelerator Program
The Social Innovator Accelerator works to create an inclusive community of nonprofit and philanthropic leaders, and other change agents seeking to build a more equitable nonprofit sector in the region.
The Accelerator program provides participating nonprofit organizations (Social Innovators) with support and resources to deepen and expand their work and impact in Eastern Massachusetts. This two-year program offers in-depth consulting, executive coaching, presentation advising, access to unrestricted grants, and more. These offerings will help them raise their organization’s visibility, expand their networks, and connect with philanthropic and in-kind resources to increase and deepen the impact of their work.
After the completion of the Accelerator program, Innovators can continue to access support and services through the SIF Alumni & Nonprofit Network.
Applications will be accepted until Wednesday, August 26 at 5:00 PM, and early submissions are highly encouraged.
